Portia Coughlan is set amidst the midlands landscape where author Marina Carr was raised.

Haunted by the death of her twin brother, Portia is inextricably bound to the Belmont River but yearns to escape. It is her 30th birthday and the solace she used find with lovers and friends has faded away. A touching play filled with honesty, guilt and dark humour.

Portia Coughlan was first staged in The Peacock Theatre in 1996.

There will be three performances in the Jerome Hynes Theatre on 16th, 17th and 18th of February 2012, before we take Portai Coughlan on the circuit tour.
